Thermal Runaway of Pile of Organic Material
This thermal image of over-heating of silo of residual derived fuel was recorded during a real fire case. The used wave range is 10 micro-meter band where the peak emission occurs at 300 K.
SILO IMAGE
Temperature distributions of cylindrical piles were simulated. Numerical results of 0.3 m diameter case for a laboratory scale experiment and 16 m case for a real scale case are shown below.

Heat Transfer in Burning Liquid Fuel Pool
Sodium vapor absorbs and emits orange color light of 0.58 micro-meter wave length. Sodium vapor accumulated on the molten sodium surface in nitrogen. Orange colored flame is seen with white colored combustion product of sodium oxide particle after the introduction of air.
Sodium Pool Burning
The contribution of heat transfer from the side wall of burning pool becomes large for the smaller diameter less than 100 mm. The temperature field in fuel layer is visualized by detecting the optical density change in a glass cup. Total duration of this movie is approximately five minutes. The reduction of thickness of high temperature zone below the fuel surface is seen after the boiling of fuel due to enhancement of heat transfer with boiling.

Fire and Explosion in Waste Process
Various flammables i.e. paper, cloth, paint, cleaner agents are used during maintenance work of equipments in a compartment of polymer sheets. Once these materials are ignited, flame spreads along the flammable surface. A series of pictures of burning of a model waste in a compartment of polymer sheet wall is shown below.
